As president of the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Commission (1995-2001), Steve Soboroff is credited with reinvigorating the City’s park system to better meet the recreational needs of the people of Los Angeles.
The developer of the Playa Vista community helped spearhead the Staples Center project in the late 1990s, and provided the Playa Vista real estate for the new L.A. Clippers Training Center.
The Chairman Emeritus of Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles, Steve is organizer and chairman of the Maccabi World Union’s “Committee of 18” marketing groupm which raised $1.7 million to support the 2009 Maccabiah Games in Israel.
In October 2009, the L.A. Parks and Recreation Department dedicated Soboroff Sports Field at Expo Center, a multi-sports venue adjacent to the Los Angeles Coliseum.
