Ross went on to play five years professionally in Europe, Australia, and South America, where he led the Australian National League in scoring while earning All-Australian Honors twice. All while playing, Ross gained more than 10 years of coaching experience.

Currently, Ross is in his 9th year and 6th year leading the boys and the girls water polo programs, respectively, at Newport Harbor. During his tenure, he led the boys team to five straight CIF Finals appearances, most recently winning back-to-back CIF Championships in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In 2021, he led the girls team to a CIF Championship and became the first coach in high school history to win a CIF Championship in the same school year in both boys and girls water polo at the premier division.

Ross currently serves as the Director of Newport Beach Aquatics and is the head coach of the 18U Boys and 18U Girls Teams. For the first time in program history, he led the 18U Girls team to a gold medal at the 2022 Junior Olympics, doing the same with the 18U Boys team at the 2023 Junior Olympics.

Ross is also involved with the USA Water Polo National Team. He was the head coach of the U18 Mens National Team, leading them to a silver medal at the 2022 Pan American games as well as a 9th place finish at the 2022 Youth World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. Most recently, he was an assistant coach on the U20 USA Mens National Team, winning a bronze medal at the 2023 U20 World Championship in Bucharest, Romania. This was the first medal at a world championship in any age group for USA Water Polo. Ross is currently the U16 USA Men’s National Team coach that will be competing in world championships in Malta this summer.
