Silverman, Sanford

Maccabee Award - 1996
Sandy Silverman, coach of the Los Angeles area Maccabi Youth Games girls softball team, never lost a game. In four North American Youth Games competitions--1988 in Chicago, 1990 in Detroit, 1992 in Baltimore, and 1994 in Cleveland--his teams were 25 wins-0 defeats.

Silverman’s undefeated record and four gold medals were not recorded without a secret weapon. In fact, he had two--his daughters Beth and Cari, both superstar windmill pitchers who, as El Camino High School (Woodland Hills) students, ranked #1 and #2 in Southern California.
