Football - 2022

Ben Rosin is a Southern California native who was a three-year USC football letter winner in 1959-60-61, as well as starting tight end his last two years for then new coach John McKay. He began college on an academic scholarship and earned a football scholarship with his blocking ability as one of the top tight ends in the west. He started his football career as an All-City tight end at Los Angeles’ Garfield High School where he was also the #1 tennis player for the school during his one season — beating the top ranked player in LA City. At 6-3, 195 lbs., Ben was a three-year letterman for USC, caught 7 passes for 104 yards (14.9 average) and had one touchdown in his Trojan career. He first played for Coach Don Clark in 1959 on a USC team that went 8-2 and finished #14 in the nation. He helped envision and start the sport of rugby at USC. After playing two years of USC Rugby, he was selected for the USA All-Star Team that played world champion New Zealand. Ben turned down a chance at professional football to keep with his academic goals.
Rosin graduated from USC Keck Medical School and then ran the Cardiac Unit at the Torrance Memorial Medical Center Hospital for 40 years. Now retired, Ben is an avid marathon runner and still gives medical lectures in Austin, Texas.
