Nemer, Jerry
Basketball - 1994
Jerry Nemer was the third student athlete to win All-America honors for the University of Southern California. The year was 1933, and he earned his All-America stripes as star of USC’s varsity basketball team.
The preceding season, Nemer was elected team captain, and his Trojans won the conference title. That year, Nemer averaged 12 points per game--then the highest ever for a USC player.
The late Jerry Nemer entered USC in 1931 as a baseball and basketball player. The coach was the same for both sports and he felt that the basketball team needed more help. So, Jerry dropped baseball to concentrate on basketball.
His play was described as “poetry in motion.”
