Dr. Aurelia Nattiv is one of the most highly regarded professionals nationally in the sports medicine field, and currently serves as a Professor in the UCLA Department of Family Medicine, Division of Sports Medicine and Non-Operative Orthopedics, and in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. The daughter of a Rabbi, Aurelia has been the Director of UCLA Metabolic Bone and Osteoporosis Center for almost 25 years, as well as being part of the UCLA Team Medicine group for Bruin Athletics since 1994.
She is a renowned international speaker in the research specialty and publication areas of the female athlete triad (disordered eating, amenorrhea, and osteoporosis). Aurelia has served as a team physician and consultant for USA Track and Field, USA Gymnastics and the United States Olympic Committee. She has been enlisted to serve as Chair and first author of the American College of Sports Medicine Position Stand on the Female Athlete Triad, and has also co-edited a book entitled The Female Athlete.
She is an elected member of the Board of Directors for the American College of Sports Medicine, and held two terms for the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. Aurelia is the first female ever nominated in this category.
She has a medical degree at the Washington University School of Medicine, and completed her residency in Sonoma, finishing her sports medicine fellowship training at the UCLA Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship program. Aurelia currently serves on the editorial board for the British Journal of Sports Medicine, reviewing multiple journals, and remains the first female ever nominated in this category.
