Malamud, Allan

Allan Malamud wrote the daily "Notes On A Scorecard" sports column for the Los Angeles Times from 1989 until his death in 1996. He joined the Times following 25 years at the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, where he had been Sports Editor, daily columnist, and covered Kings hockey, Rams, USC football, and boxing.

Malamud was born and raised in L.A., and was a graduate of Los Angeles High School and the University of Southern California.

The Allan Malamud Scholarship was established by the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame to honor the memory of the popular Los Angeles sportswriter. Beginning in 1997, a scholarship has been awarded periodically to a Southern California student planning a career in sportswriting.
