Lorge has earned international acclaim as a tennis writer of more than 30 years, and has written not only for the Post and Union, but also Tennis Magazine for 15 years and World Tennis for five years.

* Four-time president of the U.S. Tennis Writers' Association.
* Has been voted U.S. Tennis Writer of the Year.
* Recipient of the Media Service Award from both the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).
* AP Sports Editors named him one of the "top 20 sportswriters in America."
* The San Diego Union nominated Barry for a Pulitzer Prize in 1984.
