Swimming - 2003

One of the world's top contemporary swimstars, Jason Lezak won a gold medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in the 400-meter Medley Relay, and a silver medal in the 400-meter Free Style Relay.

In 2002, the 6'4" former Irvine High School star was a gold medallist on America's record-breaking 400-meter Freestyle Relay Team at the Short Course World Championships.
Jason was undefeated in the 100-meter Freestyle at the 2001-2002 World Cup series, winning at all five meets he competed. At World Cup 2000, he captured his first pair of Cup gold medals–in the 50-meter Freestyle and 400-meter Medley Relay, as well as a silver in the 100-meter Freestyle.
The ex-University of California Santa Barbara All-America set national records in the 50-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Freestyle at the 2002 NCAA championships. After winning his third straight 100 Freestyle title in 2002, he was named Pac-10 Swimmer of the Year.

Among his numerous awards and recognitions: Jason won NCAA All-America honors in 1997 and 1998 in both the 50y and 100y Freestyle events. He was Big West Conference Swimmer of the Year in 1996, 1997 and 1998. In 1997, he won a pair of gold medals at the World University Games (in 100m Free Relay and Medley Relay). In 1999, he set an American record in the 100m Freestyle, and captured gold medals in both the 50m and 100m Freestyles at the U.S. World Cup.
In the year 2000, along with his Olympic gold medals, Jason took gold in the Melbourne World Cup 50m Freestyle and silver in the 100m Freestyle event.

Jason joined the Irvine Novaquatics swim team at the age of five, and has never left.
