Head boys basketball coach at Grant High School since 1987, his teams have won seven League championships and made ten Playoff appearances (in 11 seasons). In 1988, the year Grant made the LA City 3A Finals, Levine was named Los Angeles Times Coach-of-the-Year.
In eleven seasons Levine’s Grant teams had an overall won-loss record of 202-98 (.673), including 101-35 (.743) in League play.
In 1984-85, Levine coached Grant’s Bee and Cee basketball teams to a 50-6 (.893) won-loss mark. The 1985 teams both had undefeated 14-0 seasons, and each team won its League championship.
Levine has been head golf coach at Grant since 1988, his teams L.A. City champions in both 1990 and 1991. And, 1984-86, he was head JV baseball coach, his teams League titlests in 1985 and 1986.
Home-grown, Howard Levine graduate Grant High (with honors) in 1972, and California State University Northridge (Cum Laude) in 1976.
