Lavarnway, Ryan

Baseball - 2020

Ryan Lavarnway stood out as an All-L.A. City Section outfielder/catcher at El Camino Real High school — before taking his talents across the country to play for Yale. A dominant career at Yale included Lavarnway earning an NCAA batting title in 2007 and setting an Ivy League record at the time with 33 career home runs.

Drafted by the Red Sox in 2008, he has played in the big leagues since 2011 with various teams — including a 2013 Red Sox squad that went on to win the World Series.

Ryan obtained Israeli citizenship last November 2019 so he could play for team Israel in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
