Basketball - 1993
Joel Kramer was drafted in the third round of the 1978 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns. He played five years of professional basketball, seeing considerable playing time, including the NBA playoffs.
Kramer played high school basketball at Patrick Henry High School in the San Diego area. He was League Player of the Year and All-CIF his senior season, as he led Patrick Henry to the 1974 CIF title. Kramer earned a basketball scholarship to San Diego State and ushered his team to PCAA titles in both 1977 and 1978, as well as into the NCAA Tournament. As a SDSU senior, he was named 1978 PCAA Player of the Year.
As a college junior in 1977, Joel’s United States team won the 10th Maccabiah Games’ basketball gold medal.
