Klein, Perry
Football - 2008
Carson High School’s star quarterback Perry Klein was Los Angeles All-City “Player of the Year” in his Junior year, and first team All-City as a senior, leading the Carson Colts to the 1988 City Section 4-A Division championship. That year he was named California State “Player of the Year”, Parade Magazine High School All-America, and a Campbell Soup All-American.
Klein finished high school with a 72% pass completion record, averaging 10.7 yards per completion. Recruited by a bevy of top Division 1 universities, Klein chose U.C. Berkeley. When he wasn’t guaranteed a starting position, he opted for C.W. Post College (Long Island University) in New York. At Post, he won Division II “Player of the Year” honors, racking up as many as 614 yards and seven touchdowns in a single game. He played in the 1994 College All-Star Senior Bowl and passed for one touchdown.
The Atlanta Falcons selected Klein in the 4th round of the 1994 NFL draft—the third quarterback drafted––and was with the Falcons for two seasons. Klein was also an All-America and All-City high school volleyball player.
