Klein, Erwin

Table Tennis- 1990
United States National Table Tennis Singles Champion 1956, 1961 and 1965, Erwin Klein represented the USA in the World Table Tennis Championships 1955-56, 1963 and 1967. In 1956, he teamed with Leah Thall Neuberger to win the World Mixed Doubles Championship.

Erwin, a Fairfax High/UCLA/Cal-Berkeley student, won the U.S. National Boys 15-under Championship at age 13. At 16, 17, and 18, he again captured National championships in the respective age group. At 18, he won the National Juniors title, as well as both the National Men's Singles and Doubles Championships.

In 1973, Erwin was a member of the historic United States table tennis team that competed against Red China. He is honored in the Table Tennis Hall of Fame.
