Gilbert (Heinemann), Dana

Tennis - 1994

As a full-scholarship tennis star and #1 Singles player at UCLA, Dana Gilbert led the Bruins to a “top five” national collegiate ranking. While attending the Westwood campus, Dana won her first professional tournament, the U.S. Clay Court Championship, and earned a #40 World ranking. Playing on the pro tour for five years, Dana won the Borden (Japan) Open, and was a finalist and semi-finalist in several other events.

At age 10, Dana began playing tennis in order to emulate her well-known brother, net star Brad Gilbert. Injuries forced her to retire from the tour in 1984, but she continued in the game as a teaching professional at the Mulholland Tennis Club and Hillcrest Country Club.

Dana Gilbert Heinemann currently lives with her family in San Anselmo, CA.
