Gaylord, Mitch

Gymnastics - 1990

Mitch Gaylord won four medals in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles--a gold in the team event, a silver in vault, and bronze medals in both rings and parallel bars. The LA Games’ team triumph marked the first time a U.S. gymnastics team had won the Olympic team event.

Gaylord had his first international experience at the 1981 Maccabiah Games, dominating the gymnastics events by winning six gold medals. The only event he did not win was won by his brother, Chuck, who won the vault. Mitch took the silver.

Mitch’s UCLA collegiate record is filled with numerous All-America honors in multiple events, particularly excelling in the all-around. .
