Max Fried was born in Santa Monica, raised in Encino, and was a member of the 2009 Maccabiah Games USA Juniors baseball team that won a gold medal in Israel.
From 2009 to 2011, Max attended Montclair College Preparatory School, where he played baseball, football, and basketball. He transferred to Harvard-Westlake for his senior season, where he was named a Rawlings-Perfect Game First Team All-American. In 2011, Max was inducted into the SCJSHOF as its Male High School Athlete of the Year. In the 2012 MLB Draft, Max was the first round selection (7th overall) of the San Diego Padres and was traded to the Atlanta Braves in 2014. Max made his MLB pitching debut in 2017 and to date has a career record of 40-18. Max’s 38 wins from 2019-2021 are the second most in MLB. He was First Team ALL MLB in 2020, Second Team ALL MLB in 2021, a 2x Gold Glove Award winner in 2020-2021, and won the Silver Slugger Award in 2021. In doing so, Max became the third player in MLB history to win the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger in the same year. A 2021 World Series champion, Max threw six shutout innings in Game 6 as the Atlanta Braves clinched their first championship in 26 years.
