Volleyball - 2008
Encinitas Shaney Fink was a four year starter and scholarship player at the University of California 1990-1993, and the Golden Bears’ captain in 1993. She was named to the All-Pac 10 Decade Team (1990s), and finished her collegiate career as a top ten career leader in kills, assists and digs.
In California Beach Volleyball Association competition, 1995-96, she won the Bud Light and Shady Business tournaments, and was a Jose Cuervo and West Coast Beach tournament finalist.
Shaney competed on the Women’s Professional Beach Volleyball tour in 1996-97, and was a finalist representing the U.S. at the Torneo Internacional Postobon de Voleiplaya in Bogota, Columbia, the summer of 1997.
She was a U.S. Maccabiah Games Team member the summers of 1989, 1993, 1997, winning gold medals in both beach and indoor competitions in 1997, and a bronze in 1989. She captained the ’93 and ’97 teams.
The Southern Californian signed on to Israel’s professional Kiriat Haim team in September 1997 for one year, playing a key role in winning the Israeli Pro Indoor League and Israeli Cup Championships. During the same period she played for both Israeli National indoor and beach volleyball teams.
During the summer of 1998, Shaney was Israel’s National Beach Tour champion, going undefeated in four major tournaments. She represented Israel at the International Beach Volleyball competitions and European Championships. That year, she was undefeated in Israel Beach volleyball.
