Swimmer Anthony Ervin is the American record holder in the 50-yard, 100-yard and 100-meter Freestyle events. He is World record-holder of the 50m Freestyle. He holds the U.S. Open 100m freestyle record. And, he was year 2000 NCAA 50m and 100m Freestyle champion. In World rankings, Ervin is #1 in the 100m Freestyle, and #2 in the 50m Freestyle.
Anthony won a gold medal in the 50m Freestyle (21.98) and a silver medal in the 400m Freestyle Relay at the 2000 Olympic Games. He set a new World record at the 2000 NCAA Championships in the 50m Freestyle (21.21), and won the 100m Freestyle in U.S. record time (47.46).
In 2001, the University of California, Berkeley swimstar set another American record winning the World 100m Freestyle (48.33), and captured the World 50m Freestyle (22.09) gold medal.
In 2002, he tied the American 50y Freestyle mark, and broke the 100y Freestyle record at the NCAA Championships. It was his third consecutive NCAA 100y victory. The Cal junior was named Pac-10 Swimmer of the Year.
Anthony earned All-America honors in 1994 as a member of Newhall's William Hart High School water polo team. He was the top-ranked high school sprinter in the nation and named the CIF Southern Section Most Valuable Swimmer.
