Fastpitch Softball - 1993

Since 1976, Phil Bruder has built the California Raiders Fast Pitch Softball organization into one of the finest youth programs in the nation. Bruder’s Raiders has produced 57 collegiate All-Americans, 11 national championships (nine by the 18-and-under team and two in women's fast pitch), and 122 program players have received college softball scholarships.

A graduate of California State University, Los Angeles in 1968, Bruder is the winningest coach in the history of Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Junior Olympic Program. The consistency of his coaching is best empha¬sized by the Raiders’ national 18-under titles in 1976 and 1977, 1982-85, 1987 and 1988, and 1991 (the program began in 1974).

His Seniors team competed in the 1990 and 1991 Olympic Festivals, and both won silver medals. When the United States national team won the gold medal at the 1988 World Softball Championships, seven of the team’s ten starters were from Bruder's program. These players were the nucleus of National Fast Pitch Championships won by the Raiders in 1986 and 1989.

NCAA softball records have graduates of Bruder's program ranked among the leaders in the following catergories: home runs, RBIs, pitching victories and strikeouts.

In 1997, Bruder was the Head Coach of the Maccabi USA Men’s Fastpitch Softball Club that captured a Bronze Medal at the 15th World Maccabiah Games in Israel.
