Borack, Carl

Fencing - 1990

Carl Borack was one of the United States' premiere all weapons fencers during the late 1960's-early 1970's. In 1967, he won the gold medal in Epee at the Pan-American Games. In June, 1969, he won the U.S. National Foil Championship.

In July, 1969, Borack captured the Sabre championship at the World Maccabiah Games in Israel. He returned to the Pan-Am Games in 1971 to win the gold medal in the Foil event. In 1972, he was named to the United States Olympic Team, after which he retired from competition.

From 1984 to 1990, Borack was Team Captain of the United States national fencing team. He held a similar posi-tion with U.S. fencing teams competing at the 1985 World University Games, 1986 Junior World Championships, the 1986, 1987, 1989 World Championships, 1987 Pan American Games, 1988 Olympics, and 1990 World Championships.

Carl served four years as Executive Vice-President of the U.S. Fencing Association. and is presently a member of the United States Olympic Committee's Public Relations Commit-tee.
