Journalist Steve Bisheff has been covering the sports events in Southern California and the nation for more than 30 years. Since 1982, he has been a featured sports columnist and writer for the Orange County Register.
A Los Angeles native and Alhambra High School and USC graduate, Bisheff began his sports writing career covering preps for the Santa Monica Evening Outlook. When he moved to the L.A. Herald Examiner, his assignments included UCLA basketall (Alcindor era) and USC football (O.J. Simpson era). In 1972, his workplace was the San Diego Evening Tribune. From 1975 until he moved to the Register, Bisheff was the Tribune’s lead columnist.
Bisheff has won numerous writing awards including: “Best Sports Column of the Year” from the Pro Football Writers of America; “Best California Sports Story of the Year” from the Associated Press; several Copley “Ring of Truth” and Hearst honors; and many San Diego Press Club awards.
He authored the book, “Los Angeles Rams--Great Teams, Great Years”, and his work has appeared in such national publications as Sport Magazine, Inside Sports, Pro!, and The Sporting News, among others.
