Becker, Steve
Steve Becker, Aquatics Director of the Westside Jewish Community Center from 1983 to 1997, was coach and organizer of Los Angeles area and National Team swimmers under 16 year old for seven Maccabi Youth Games events. Between 1990 and 1996, his youngsters won more than 300 medals in national and international events! No other coach in any other event approached his success.
Becker also coached the Westside Wave, the highly successful Westside JCC swim team that competed in regional and national events. Many of Becker's swim-kids went on to successful collegiate careers, including swimming phenom Lenny Krayzelberg,
After becoming the Fitness and Aquatic Director of the Jewish Community Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Steve held the position of Vice President of Health and Welfare for the Jewish Community Centers Association of North America from 2001 until his retirement in 2022.
