Mater Dei High School – Male Athlete of the Year, Basketball - 2018

Spencer Freedman completed his senior year at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, where he was a dominating point guard for Coach Gary McKnight. He was a top student-athlete with a 4.3 GPA and will be playing basketball for Harvard University in the fall.

Freedman had a strong freshman year at Santa Monica High School, with scoring outbursts of 17, 25, and 31 points while leading in assists. In his sophomore year, he transferred to Mater Dei High School. He earned first-team All-County honors from the Orange County Register for three straight years and was the first player to ever receive Trinity League MVP three straight seasons. Freedman led Mater Dei High School to both the Trinity League and CIF Open Division titles. He ended his senior year as a High School All-American.
